Microneedling, skin needling, or collagen induction are all names for the FDA approved treatment of needling the skin with nano needles attached to an electric pen device. Microneedling has been around since the early 1950s but it wasn’t until the early 2000s that it started gaining popularity in aesthetic practices. The purpose of Microneedling is to create a healing response from the body in order to stimulate collagen & elastin production. By stimulating the body’s healing response, skin is rejuvenated, lifted, & tightened. Surgical & Acne Scars, fine lines, wrinkles, large pores, & stretch marks are also minimized. This treatment is perfect for the patient that is not quite ready to start laser treatments at the medical spa yet wants the perfect treatment for anti-aging, stretch mark repair or cellulite reduction that does not involve laser methods. Microneedling creates micro like channels in the skin. Upon the creation of these micro channels, nutrient dense skin products can be better absorbed by the skin. Microneedling is not limited to the face, but it can also be done on the scalp, neck, decollete, arms, hands, stomach, back & legs. A series of 5-8 treatments over the course of several months is recommended for best results. Each session builds upon the last as the skin gradually & cumulatively improves its texture.
